RCRCA is proud to announce that they are a partner with Discovery Farms starting in 2017.
Discovery Farms Minnesota is a farmer-led effort to gather field scale water quality infomration from different types of farming systems, in landscapes all across Minnesota. The mission of the Discovery Farms program is to gather water quality information under real-worl conditions. The goal is to provide practical, credible, site-specific information to enable better farm management.
The program is designed to collect accurate measurments of sediment, nitrogen and phosphorus movement over the soil surface and through subsurface drainage tiles. This work leads to a better understanding of the relationship between agricultural management and water quality.
Cooperation between government agencies, commodity groups and farmers has been the key to the past and future success of Discovery Farms Minnesota. More information is available on their website https://discoveryfarmsmn.org/.
Funding for the project is in part from Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.
Other Discovery Farm Partners include: Minnesota Agricultural Water Resource Center, Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
