UPDATE OF LAKE REDWOOD DREDGING PROJECT
COMPLETED TO DATE
► PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING PROVIDED BY HOUSTON ENGINEERING INC.
► ALL PERMITS HAVE BEEN RENEWED. LICENSE TO CROSS RAMSEY CREEK IS CURRENTLY AT MNDOT.
► CONSTRUCTION OF THE CONFINED DISPOSAL FACILITY (CDF), OR THE DEWATERING POND, WAS COMPLETED IN 2020 BY MATHIOWETZ CONSTRUCTION COMPANY.
► JF BRENNAN COMPANY WAS THE SUCCESSFUL LOW BIDDER ($4,468,111.45), COMPETING WITH 3 OTHER BIDS RANGING FROM $5,889,319.20 TO 8,327,271.68.
► BRENNAN IS CURRENTLY FUSING AND PLACING THE PIPELINE FROM THE LAKE TO THE CDF. THE CDF OUTLET STRUCTURE HAS BEEN SUBMITTED TO DNR FOR APPROVAL, AND WILL BE PLACED ONCE APPROVED. ALL ANCILLARY OPERATIONS WILL BE COMPLETED BY YEAR END.
► ONE EASEMENT REMAINS TO BE ACQUIRED AND WILL BE COMPLETED ONCE THE PIPELINE IS PLACED UPON THE PRIVATE PROPERTY. - 4 - LAKE REDWOOD ACTIVITIES FOR 2022
► AS SOON AS WEATHER PERMITS, JF BRENNAN WILL BEGIN 24/7 DREDGE OPERATIONS.
► DEPENDING UPON THE TIMING OF ICE OUT, THE START OF OPERATIONS MAY BE DELAYED UNTIL MAY 2022 FOR DOWNSTREAM SPAWNING CONCERNS.
► 650,000 CUBIC YARDS OF SEDIMENT IS THE GOAL FOR REMOVAL.
► DREDGING OPERATIONS WILL BEGIN 100 FEET AWAY FROM THE BRIDGE/DAM AND WILL PROCEED UPSTREAM. BRENNAN IS CONFIDENT THAT THE GOAL CAN BE ACHIEVED IN ONE DREDGE SEASON.
► UPON COMPLETION OF DREDGING, THE OWNERSHIP OF THE CDF WILL BE TURNED OVER TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD FALLS FOR CONTINUED DEWATERING MANAGEMENT. 5 TO 7 YEARS IS THE ESTIMATED TIME FOR COMPLETE DEWATERING, WHICH IS LARGELY DETERMINED BY THE AMOUNT OF ORGANICS IN THE SEDIMENTS.
► THE CDF BERMS WILL REMAIN PERMANENTLY. THE CITY OF REDWOOD FALLS INTENDS TO LEASE THE PROPERTY FOR FARMING ONCE COMPLETED DEWATERED
